📝 What is your Marks in School?!

Hello Learners! 👋 Welcome back to Learn with Pari, where we talk about everything from A for Apple 🍎 to Z for “Zarurat se zyada padhai!” 😂

Today’s blog is all about the most asked (and most feared) question in every Indian household:

“Beta, what are your marks in school?”

Yes, yes — the QNA of the Century as certified by every mummy, papa, chacha, chachi, and the aunty next door who always “just came to ask how much water you drink” and somehow ends up asking about your marks too! 😅

📚 Why Are Marks Such a Big Deal?

Let’s be honest. Our parents love us. But somehow, when the report card comes out, their love becomes directly proportional to our marks! 🧮
If you score 95%, they ask, “Where did the 5% go?”
If you score 75%, they say, “Sharma ji ka beta got 94%!”
If you score 50%, then… well… may God be with you 😬

But why do they ask this question so much?

Here’s a theory (or two):

  • They care – Marks help them understand if we’re doing okay in school.
  • 🧠 They grew up in a time where marks meant everything – jobs, respect, and even rishtas (yes, marriage proposals!).
  • 🤖 They compare – not because they want to make us sad, but because that’s what they’re used to hearing themselves.

🎢 Real Reactions vs. Expected Reactions

MarksWhat You ExpectWhat You Actually Get
99%“Wow, amazing!”“Why not 100%?” 🙃
85%“Good job!”“Next time better, okay?” 😐
60%“You tried your best.”“TV band, phone band, life band!” 😭
35%“Let’s work together.”“Are you even studying?!” 💥

🧘‍♀️ A Little Reminder from Pari

Dear Students (and Parents too!),

Marks are important — but they’re not everything.

✅ They show how well you understood a subject.
❌ They don’t show how creative, kind, curious, or smart you are in other ways.

So if your marks are great — celebrate! 🎉
If they’re not so great — don’t panic. Talk, learn, grow.

And dear Parents reading this — a hug, a smile, and encouragement can do more than any shouting match. 🧡

🗣 Final Thoughts: What’s YOUR Answer?

So next time someone asks:

“What is your Marks in School?”

You can smile and say:

“Enough to learn something new every day!”

And hey — that’s the best answer of all, isn’t it?
